Lombok Island is one of a
thousand islands in Indonesia. The island located
between Bali and Sumbawa island with 4725 km2 wide. The
main city in Lombok Island is Mataram City. This island
is a part of West Nusa Tenggara Barat Province.
Lombok Island also known as the Virgin Island. This name
is given because this island has so much natural
potential that not yet being touched by people. Senggigi
Beach, Kuta Beach, Gili Trawangan and Rinjani Mountain
is some of a well known tourist destination in Lombok
Island. But there is so many other place that also have
a beautiful view but not too famous among the tourist,
such as Cemara Beach, Sekotong Beach, Benang Setokel &
Benang Kelambu Waterfall, Otak Kokoq Waterfall, Jeruk
Manis Waterfall, and many more.
Beside the beautiful site of natural potential that not
yet being touched, Lombok Island also kept an exotic
culture from the native tribe on the island, Sasak
Tribe. Sasak culture of art is very unique and varied.
Many people assumed that Sasak culture is the same as
Balinese Culture. But the assumption is wrong because,
although they look alike, the culture of that two
society is has a big different. For example is the way
they play their music instruments to escort traditional
dance. Kendang and ceng-ceng is a music instrument that
use by Balinese and Sasaknesse. Although using the same
instruments, they have a different ways to play it. |

 The kind of Dance We Performance |

1.
Gendang Beleq |
|
|
|
Gendang Beleq is a
traditional dance from Lombok. It is named so because
each dancer plays a big beleq (drum). In the old times,
this dance was performed to say good bye to the soldiers
who went to battle fields, and also to welcome those
soldiers when they returned. Nowadays this dance is
performed to welcome important visitors. |

2. Rudat |
|

|
A traditional Sasak
dance performed by a number of young men. This
dance shows the mixture of Islamic and Sasak
cultures. The customs of Rudat dancers were
influenced by Turkish army. The dancer sing
while others play tambourines and musical
instruments called "Jidur". Rudat dancers
usually wear colorful costumes, hats, and other
ornaments. |

3.
Peresean / Stick Fighting |
|
A "fight" performed by two
young men armed with rattan sticks and shields made of
cow-hide. This traditional game is performed on special
events. The Pekembar or the judge determines wether the
fight should carry on, or it has become too rough.
Traditional music instruments accompany this game. |

4.
Gandrung / Lombok Joget Dance |
|
A social dance,
particularly for young people, and it is usually
performed by a pretty dancer with a fan in her hand.
When she touches a man or a spectator with the fan, it
means that he is requested to dance Gandrung with her.
Gandrung means being in love or longing for someone in
the native language, and this meaning is expressed in
the movements of the dance.
Gandrung is accompanied with a full Gamelan orchestra.
This dance is from the villages in Lombok, and it is
frequently performed in "Lenek" Village. |

DAY 01: AIRPORT – HOTEL
IN SENGGIGI
Welcome service by our professional and friendly Guide,
then transfer to hotel in senggigi.
DAY 02; SENGGIGI – LENEK – SEMBALUN ( B, L, D )
After Breakfast Drive to LENEK Village, where we will
see a Traditional Dance performance. On the way we will
visit Masbagik a Pottery Village, Loyok Bambu
handicraft, Pringgasela is small village with ancient
weaving Traditions. We will stroll around the village to
see the weaving coloring process. Here we can enjoy
delicious traditional Sasak meals. After this we will
drive to Lenek for Traditional Dance performance. In
late afternoon we drive to sembalun via the highest
mountain pass on Lombok. Overnight in Lembah Rinjani
Cottage.
DAY 03: SEMBALAUN – SENGGIGI – END ( B,L )
Enjoy the early Mountainous Morning View (Summit of
Mount Rinjani 3,726m asl ), then agro hiking for 3 hrs.
We walk through the plantations and see people’s picker
the cabbage, potatoes, garlic onions, strawberry,
apples, and more vegetables. On the route we Visit
oldest bamboo garden in Lombok and Traditional Houses of
lawang, then back to hotel for lunch after lunch we
drive to senaru for sendang Gile and Tiu Kelep
Waterfall, late afternoon will be in senggigi Hotel. End
of the trips. |
